The Novels Story – How it all Started – 1939 to 1971
In 1939 Walter Steinberg opened Novel Shoe Store in the exact same premises it currently resides.
In 1941 he sold it to Gunther Emil Hodenberg. His son took over Novels from his dad and ran it till 1971. They have both passed on but many loyal customers still remember buying their first pair of shoes from Uncle Mickey as he was affectionately known…
The New Era – 1971 to present day
1971 sparked a new era for Novel Shoe Store when Mr Frankie Sequeira Snr acquired the store.
The first couple of years were tough but soon Frankie Snr took Novels from strength to strength.
A men’s clothing division was added to Novels when the adjacent premises was acquired and then it was renamed to Novels Outfitters and Shoe Store.
At the end of 1997 Frankie Jnr joined the business and a couple of years later Frankie Snr retired.
The Current owners of Novels is Frankie & Rose Sequeira and with their cumulative skills in retail and accounting they are taking the Novels brand to new heights…
